A shared world, a better adventure.

What a browser classic can teach us about multiplayer fun.

A world shared through the web

In 2012, Mozilla and Little Workshop introduced BrowserQuest, a multiplayer adventure built to demonstrate browser technology. Its small fantasy world showed how exploration could become a shared experience without requiring a conventional desktop game installation.

Pick the kind of company you want

For a relaxed session, look for cooperative goals: exploring together, solving a challenge or helping a teammate. For a little rivalry, choose a short competitive round. Agree on the game and controls before starting, especially when sharing one device.

Check how the game connects you

“Multiplayer” does not always mean a private room with friends. Some games pair you with strangers; others offer local two-player controls or room codes. Read the individual game’s instructions before inviting someone. Keep personal information out of public chat and use available mute or report tools when needed. The best shared session is one where everyone knows what they are joining.
